[edit] Articles for deletion

Hi, I wonder if you would share your views here, please. TerriersFan (talk) 03:18, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

My article on Karosel 2D was marked as needing expert commentary/notability guidelines. I posted on the Talk Page there about the person you could contact as an expert on the subject since the Wiki group you recommended about Contract Bridge was listed as probably inactive. Please don't delete the article without first checking with Brent Manley (Editor@acbl.org)

[edit] Re: Ticats/Bills

Yes, the NFL's official list of international matches shows that every other Canadian team that played an NFL team lost. The Ti-Cats weren't the only team to play an NFL team, but they were the only one to win. JMyrleFuller (talk) 07:09, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] DYK nomination

Did you know

  • ...that a former principal received a national award for her work at Tubman Elementary School which is named after a Union spy? x5 expansion by DoubleBlue OK? You did the work so you may as well cash it in... I have polished the article but an infobox would smarten it up... Victuallers (talk) 23:08, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks Victuallers. DoubleBlue (Talk) 01:17, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] ea canada

About the change i made, i think it's either right or neither right or wrong. The FIFA series video games have different titles regarding to the country they are being sold. In Europe (where I live) the series is called either FIFA Football or FIFA. In the U.S.A, from what I know, it is called FIFA Soccer because football means American Football. So my change is either right, because most of the world knows this sport as football and not soccer, either neutral because the series has two different titles. I suggest that we write FIFA series, if you think FIFA Football is wrong, but calling FIFA Soccer is supporting a side and not being neutral which is forbidden by the rules of article writing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Costlab (talkcontribs) 02:00, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Tubman Elementary School

Updated DYK query On 11 January 2008, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Tubman Elementary Schoole, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

[edit] Extracurricular

The Manual of Style guidelines specify "An article on a topic that has strong ties to a particular English-speaking nation uses the appropriate variety of English for that nation." The Macquarie Dictionary lists extracurricular as the correct Australian spelling. Incidentally, the Cambridge Advanced Learners Dictionary (British), the American Heritage Dictionary and Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary (American), and the Macquarie Dictionary (Australian) all list extracurricular as the preferred spelling, so I'm not sure how this could even be considered an issue of nation spelling variations.--HarryHenryGebel (talk) 22:12, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Arbitration case

I've made an arbitration case on the nagging Dominion issue on Canada and related pages. There might be a need for you to comment. Thanks. --Soulscanner (talk) 11:18, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Oscar Peterson

DB, I think you have a good solution for where to put "Canadian icon" -- in the lead paragraph. I noticed that he's mentioned as a "vocalist" there. Yes, Oscar did sing a bit: I have a track on a disc and I've heard that one label wanted to promote him as another Nat King Cole. But he didn't sing that much or that well -- it wasn't what he was known for. Do you think that vocalist should be removed? Bellagio99 (talk) 03:35, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Re your correction of my apparently incorrect "honourary" -- do you know of a Canadian dictionary that is online? Bellagio99 (talk) 13:51, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Early Doucet

Hey, I was looking through the history and I saw the vandal had deleted his whole college bio, so I assumed I would restore it (seeing how he's probably more famous as a college player ;) ). Maybe not? --Sylent (talk) 22:36, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Andre Talbot

At the time that I did my edit, the page, as you were well aware, was extremely cluttered! I was just trying to do a little something to ease the clutter by removing what I did! However, you did a better job of eliminating the clutter completely, while maintaining that little blurb @ the bottom of the edit page without it showing below the external links page! In the end, no harm done, and no further alterations needed from me for the time being on that article! Amchow78 (talk) 17:48, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination of Karosel 2D

An editor has nominated Karosel 2D, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Karosel 2D and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 07:59, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Post Oak Middle School

This page, that you said should be kept, has been merged without the discussion that the closing admin said should take place. I don't feel strongly about this but if you decide to incorporate some of the references into the page and undo the merge I will help you defend it. TerriersFan (talk) 23:48, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Worm Day

I certainly appreciate the need to eliminate hoaxes from Wikipedia. I use the source as a starting point for research that is vital to my career. However, I must assure you that Worm Day is indeed not a hoax, and has been celebrated both locally and internationally since 1991. Provided the page remains on Wikipedia long enough, I intend to contribute original Worm Day related artwork that has been created annually for the last many years. Thank you for your consideration. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cosmoknot (talkcontribs) 18:26, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Canadian English

I was thinking about how the pronounciation of Z as Zee is still kicking around in Canada, and I think it might be because of the French language instruction most of us go through. I wonder if places with less rigorous French-instruction have a lower instance of Zees. That'd be a fun fact to find in a research paper, eh? Howa0082 (talk) 17:13, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] CFHOF

Hi Gypaetus, I see that the Canadian Football Hall of Fame has changed their website organisation. I believe your first change to the template was the better solution. i.e.: cfhof.ca/index.php?module=page&id={{{CFHOF}}} as the players and the builders have different "page id"s under the new system. Players have id=24 and Builders have id=28. I suspect the best solution is to put the ending part of the url in the CFHOF parameter such as I did with #REDIRECT Bob Ackles [1]. Cheers! DoubleBlue (Talk) 17:44, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Junior Ah You

Would you mind taking a look at the Junior Ah You page for a possible reassessment? I've worked the article pretty thoroughly over the past couple of days (from its original "stub"), and believe it is at least a "start" (and maybe even a low "B"). I'd appreciate any help and would love to return the favor on any CFL articles you have been working on. Sundevilesq (talk) 06:17, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the ranking on the Junior Ah You page...I agree, "start" is probably where the page is now, but I will try to flesh it out with some stats at a later date (I'm going to Montreal this November for the Grey Cup, maybe I will pick up an Alouettes' media guide while I'm there!) You know, the 4 retired numbers of the Argo's need A LOT of work, especially Shatto, "King" Krol, and Nykoluk. Is there a ranking system on the CFL project's TO DO list? Lastly, what would it take (in your opinion) to get Johnny Bright's page (my pet project) from a "B" to a GA (and maybe even a FA)? Drop me a line when you have the time. [edit] English/canadian.

The school in question is an English Canadian school. The spelling the previous person used was the French Canadian spelling. Being a English Canadian school the proper spelling should be used. (Program not programme in this case.) Godlike-Substance (talk) 23:51, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

It is acceptable in Canadian language although it is French Canadian. In the case of an English school the proper spelling would be "program". I attend that school and we are proud of our English program. So, Having a French spelling being repetitively used in a description is considered an insult to the proud people within the school. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Godlike-Substance (talkcontribs) 00:02, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

It appears that this. Among a lot of other things in life an opinion. So, I will let it go because I don't need to be considered right [removed]. I also don't use wikipedia because of its lack of correctness on many matters. I was simply passing through when I noticed the mistake(s) within the article. I am proud of my school (and most of the people in it). So, I hoped to fix it to keep the integrity of my school intact but alas some "technicality" will not allow me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Godlike-Substance (talkcontribs) 00:43, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] --

I did not express my opinion. The definition of a President according to dictionary.com is "An officer appointed or elected to preside over an organized body of persons." The definition of a Dictator is "A person exercising absolute power, esp. a ruler who has absolute, unrestricted control in a government without hereditary succession." The facts state that Fidel Castro led a revolution and was not elected nor appointed. He assumed power, and was (until Feb.24) the absolute ruler of Cuba. It's not an opinion.
