Lucius Volumnius Flamma Violens was a Roman politician and a consul at the same time as Appius Claudius Caecus at the end of the third century B.C. He was a novus homo, the first member of his family to become consul in 307 BC and 296 BC. [1] In 296 BC Claudius and Volumnius defeated a combined Etruscan and Samnite army in a battle near the river Volturno in which they had invaded Campania. [2]
