Douglas K. Barry
I am the founder of Barry & Associates, Inc., a firm that provides consulting in enterprise architecture and standards with a specialization in service-oriented architecture using Web services and database management systems.
I have been an independent consultant since 1992. I provide technical direction in early stage, intensive sessions designed to increase awareness of architectural options that help shorten the development process.
I served as the Executive Director of the Object Data Management Group from 1993 through 2001. The ODMG created standard specification for object database and object-relational mapping products. In that role, I also served as the liaison to the INCITS Technical Committee H2 on Database, the committee responsible for the SQL specification.
I was a founder and Chief Technical Officer, Itasca Systems, from 1989 through 1992. This was a start-up firm providing object database management software.
I was the Database Liaison to the Microelectronics and Computer Technology Corporation (MCC) for Control Data Corporation from 1987 through 1989. I worked with the research team on ORION, an object database system prototype developed by the MCC.
