Talk:Double-marking language
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Another possibility would be a fluid-marking language. Georgian and the other Kartvelian languages may mark certain adpositional and similar relations between a verb and some of its complements either by a case-marking or by the so-called "version" of the verb, e.g. for "I cut the celery over the shashlik" one can say either
mcvad-ze niaxuri davčeri "shashlik-over celery(-ABS) I-cut-it"
or
mcvad-s niaxuri dav-a-čeri "shashlik-DAT celery(-ABS) I-over-cut-it",
where the former is dependent-marking, the latter head-marking.132.185.240.121 06:36, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
