Douglas M. North

Dr. Douglas M. North is the current president of Alaska Pacific University.
North attended The Albany Academy for highschool. In January, 2006, North participated in the U.S. University Presidents Summit at the invitation of Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Education Secretary Margaret Spellings. The summit was be held at the State Department’s Headquarters in Washington D.C.; North was one of less than 100 university Presidents to attend.
He has studies extensively in the areas of low residency distance education programs for adult learners and has started, at APU, the Rural Alaska Native Adult program (RANA). He hopes that universities in the United States will adopt this methodology to recruit and educate foreign students.
North currently serves on the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors.
