Doug Griffiths is a Canadian politician, who currently represents the electoral district of Battle River-Wainwright in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. He is a member of the Progressive Conservative Party.
[edit] Political career
Griffiths was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta in a by-election that took place on April 8, 2002.[1] Griffiths won the closely contested election holding the Wainwright electoral district for the Progressive Conservatives after former incumbent Robert Fischer resigned after being investigated for a conflict of interest. He was reelected two years later to represent the new Battle River-Wainwright electoral district. He won that election in a landslide victory defeating five other candidates. [2] He was re-elected to his third term in office in the 2008 Alberta general election winning almost 80% of the popular vote.[3]
