Douglas Erwin Bollinger (born July 24, 1981, Baulkham Hills, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia) is a professional Australian cricketer who currently plays first-class cricket for the New South Wales Blues. He is a left-handed batsman and a left-arm fast bowler.
The left-armer debuted for New South Wales in 2002/03 and has been touted by some New South Welshmen as a future Australian international bowling prospect. In the 2004/05 season, in an ING Cup match against South Australia, he picked up a hat-trick in dismissing the Redbacks' brittle top order. Following this innings, he failed to live up to the hype heaped upon him and currently has a first-class average of 55.43 with the ball (as of October 25, 2006) from 19 matches.
He has, however, generated some form of success in the One-Day form of the game, taking 27 wickets at an average of 28.32 in 20 matches (also as of October 25, 2006)His good form has not gone unnoticed from the Australian selectors who named him in a 30 man squad for the ICC champions trophy tournament in India. Doug is one of a select group of up and coming young Australian cricketers who have spent time at the Commonwealth Bank Centre of Excellence honing their cricket skills to one day wear the Baggy Green.
The end of 2006/07 season saw the retirement of Glenn Mcgrath and Shane Warne two legends of the game. With competition for these vacancies fierce early season form will be crucial in selectors eyes and Doug has made a terrific start to the summer. He took a five wicket haul in NSW Pura cup match against WA . In a devastating spell of pace and swing not seen at the WACA for some years Doug claimed yet another Hat-trick and ended up with the figures of 5/38.
Appearing for Worcestershire during the 2007 season, Bollinger experienced an exceptionally thin time, particularly for an overseas 'star'. He did not return for the 2008 season.
