Double Drummer

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Double Drummer (Thopha saccata) is an Australian cicada. It’s the largest and loudest cicada in the world. Tawny brown in colour with a black pattern across its back, the male Double Drummer has small pockets (‘timbals’) on each side of its abdomen - the ‘double drums’ – that are used to amplify the sound it produces.
