Doto pita is a species of sea slug, a small nudibranch, a shell-less marine gastropod mollusk in the family Dotidae.

[edit] Distribution

Doto pita is endemic to the Caribbean and tropical west Atlantic, from Brazil to Florida. Reports from Japan (Baba, 1971), and New Zealand (Morton and Millar, 1968), may be the result of accidental transport by human agency.

[edit] Description

Doto pita is a small slender species, of mottled lilac colour, and with five rows of large bulbous yellowish cerata on each side of the body. It feeds upon the polyps of several species of hydroids.

The length is up to 12 mm.
