[edit] Does this belong here?

I don't think that first-person, single-author essays belong in the Wikipedia namespace. Especially when they are slanted to advocate a particular point of view. But I don't feel like looking up the procedure for nominating articles in the Wikipedia namespace for deletion. What do others think of this? Maybe it is more common than I realize. I don’t think that I’ve broken any rules in writing this essay; aren’t they written all the time? This one is intended as an essay to express, in one place, the views and reasons of editors who use diæretic spellings. It does not claim any official status, so I cannot see what could be wrong with it… Raifʻhār Doremítzwr 15:17, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
I'd day it should be in User: space. It clearly isn't a place for editors to express their views and reasons, when it is written in the first person. And you clearly don't encourage, and probably don't intend to allow for criticism of your views by those who disagree with it. It is a personal page, not a Wikipedia page. The section written in the first person is a quotation — I considered changing the way it was written, but if I did that, it would no longer be a quotation. I invite anyone who wishes to criticise the views given on the project page to do so here on the talk page; however, valid criticism would be that which attempts to repudiate the points made on the project page. Wikipedia:Why opt for diæretic spellings → User:Doremítzwr/Why opt for diæretic spellings — Personal essays should receive consensus before appearing as project-wide essays. In this case, I feel the article proposes spellings of words that are not to be found in reliable sources for spelling. I seriously doubt this proposal will receive consensus without major changes that would likely make this essay redundant with common sense. It should be moved to user space until such time as consensus is reached. Try the pump if you want to recruit people to your webspace to discuss. cmhTC 15:59, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Support. I would support deleting this pet spelling junk entirely, but I guess people can put anything they want under their own namespaces. Strad 17:08, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
  • Support. Simply doesn't fit project namespace, as discussed.--Chealer 14:23, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
  • Oppose — obviously. Raifʻhār Doremítzwr 23:32, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
