"Socialite" is a creaky term from yellowed newspaper clippings. And not the best newspapers either. Do people really gag on "aristocrat"? Wetman 08:55, 7 Oct 2004 (UTC)

I'd say you could be each without the other, really. In the UK parlance, being 'in society' would come with the social position, but not if one stayed away from London. Anyway, needs some expansion to make better sense.
