- ... the name Doric probably derives from Greek dorus meaning gift, whereby the Doric temple can be considered a gift to or from the Gods. As the ancient Greeks worshipped mushrooms, the Doric temple is essentially a geometric rendition of a huge mother mushroom surrounded and supported by her columnar offspring."
"Doric" refers to a cultural group of Greeks, as does Ionic order. "Dorus" is an invented eponym for these Greeks. "Mother mushroom" is apparently a private dream. --Wetman (talk) 18:29, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
The above comment '"Mother Mushroom" is apparently a private dream' must be treated as a mycophobic ad hominem that also shows scant regard for poetic intent. Mother Nature loves those that cannot see the forest for the trees. That "Dorus" is an invented eponym is hardly an argument against the derivation of Doric from Greek dorus ("gift") and does not justify the extraction of the disputed text. Further evidence supporting the relationship between ancient Greek architecture and mushrooms is available from the Fungitecture website. O8TY (talk) 13:49, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
