[edit] Not a hoax, but probable autobiography
I have removed the words "this is not a hoax" from the start of the article because a Google Scholar search confirms that the subject is real. The article would be improved by removing references which are merely the websites of institutions with which Dr Rosenstrauch is associated, but which do not actually mention her. It is tagged as probable autobiography because a first version DrDoRo, now redirected here, was input by new user DrDoRo (talk · contribs). JohnCD (talk) 11:04, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
- Response: This in not an autobiography ; sources to verify Doreen Rosenstrauch's appointments and associations: 1.community of science sponsored by the University of Texas : http://myprofile.cos.com/drosenstrauch, 2. linkedin professional network: www.linkedin.com/in/drdoro—Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.153.197.250 (talk) 19:56, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] References
These need to back up the claim: simply linking to http://amcal2000.tripod.com/acapulco.htmldoes not establish Rosenstrauch's professorship, for example. Nor does the fact that she finished 109th in a 5k run, show that her fund raising for that organisation is significant. Rich Farmbrough, 09:11 10 May 2008 (GMT).
- There are so many claims in this article, that it might be difficult to go through them all. All of them *should* be sourced, but to get an idea of which ones should be easy: a cursory scan of the references given shows that Rosenstrauch is definitely an MD in cardio related fields in good standing, and so all of the reasonably typical awards that the article claims she has are quite likely true and quite likely have sources. Her extra-professional activities are probably more difficult to source, and in an ideal article they would only be a small section on her athletic and artistic endeavours. It can easily be sourced that these exist, and that some people find them noteworthy.
- If one were worried about BLP issues, I think the medical career information is reasonably noncontroversial (or can be made so with easy, small changes to wording). Some of the non-career oriented material would be harder to source, and I would suggest deleting anything that was not sourced and felt to be controversial. A quick read while copyediting did not reveal anything too terrible, though the presentation was certainly too glowing to be considered a neutral point of view. - I did remove a claim that she was faculty at Rice, as nothing on the Rice website indicated that she was ever anything but faculty from other schools in Houston. The claim of being a professor at the Tanzania institute might also be bogus, but she is on the board of directors, so it is certainly possible. There is another vague claim that she is a member of the organization, "Rice University". This is too vague to be false, but also to vague to be sourced. It should probably be replaced with something about the "Beyond Traditional Borders" project, which appears to be hosted at the Rice website, but is a Houston area collaboration. - Some of the previous comments may be confusing:
- Everyone believes Doreen Rosenstrauch is a real person.
- We need websites that specifically mention that Rosenstauch works at those institutions. It is *not* enough to just give the website of those institutions. The website must mention her working there.
- An early version appears to have been an autobiography. Noone claims that you are Rosenstrauch. The current version is still too promotional, but it can be fixed slowly.
- I think this was clear. You are doing the right thing. Most faculty members are listed on the department webpage.
- You have fixed this, thanks!
- Thanks for responding to the comments, and keep up the good work. JackSchmidt (talk) 16:32, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
