[edit] Rumor

Jim McKay was giving a history of the marathon in I believe the 1984 games, and said that Dorando had been using amphetamines and that along with the dehydration are what did him in. I could believe it, I think a lot of athletes have always used things like that back when they were regarded as harmless, but is there any record that he did? I found confirmation in several books for McKay's statement that Pietri nearly died subsequent to the race, but that this had to do with his heart actually having been displaced (wow). Today of course you have to fill out a ton of paperwork and have it approved by six dozen officials before you can take an aspirin. --Bluejay Young (talk) 23:45, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
