Dorsal Atlântica was a thrash metal band from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Always led by the guitarist/vocalist Carlos 'Vândalo' Lopes, they released man of albums from 1984 to 1996, most of them with lyrics in their own language (Portuguese), and some with two versions (English/Portuguese) and only one fully in English.
They are a pioneer thrash metal band in Brazil, having released their first work as a split album Ultimatum with another Rio band, Metalmorphosis in 1984.
Dorsal Atlântica has been acknowledged as an influence to many other bands including Sepultura and Korzus.
Carlos 'Vândalo' Lopes is now playing with a psichodelic/funk/70's band called Mustang.
