Dorothy Catalonia (ドロシー・カタロニア Doroshī Kataronia?) is the granddaughter of Duke Dermail of the Romefeller Foundation, pseudo-rival of Quatre Raberba Winner, and is the second cousin of Treize Khushrenada. She is voiced by Naoko Matsui (JPN) and Cathy Weseluck (ENG).
As a representative of Romefeller, she is sent to the Sanc Kingdom where she meets Relena Peacecraft. Dorothy attends Relena's private school, but unlike Relena, Dorothy does not believe in total pacifism. Dorothy has a deep admiration for war, and believes that battle purifies society. She usually hides this behind sharp wit and banter.
Dorothy is considered one of the more manipulative characters of Gundam Wing, and in the end her Machiavellian schemes backfire, killing her grandfather and leaving Dorothy defeated in a world without war. Although she may be manipulative at times, she still seems to care for Treize, as she goes far enough to even tackle Zechs when he attempts to open fire on her cousin. She eventually learns that she must accept who she is, and allows her kind and emotional side to break through her cold exterior (though she still retains a good percentage of her dry sarcasm and smugness). She visits Zechs's grave and lays flowers on the tombstone.
Dorothy is a very skilled swordswoman, as both Heero Yuy and Quatre Raberba Winner can attest; she holds her own when dueling them. It is worth noting, that Heero purposely loses to her in order to conceal his identity; And though Quatre physically loses to her, he manages to make her see the error of her ways. She is also an excellent tactician, remotely piloting several mobile suits while aboard Zech's Libra station.
Dorothy does not appear in the OVA version of Endless Waltz, but appears in the scenes added to the movie version. She is shown chiding and teasing common folk for not having the bravery to fight against Mariemaia Khushrenada and her army.
She also appears in Battlefield of the Pacifists to provide information for Heero and Relena, who are brought together by Dorothy during their separate investigations of Victor Gaintz and Vulkanus. During Relena's story in Episode Zero, Treize references his and Zechs' commanding officer (who was the leader of OZ during the timeline of this story), as "General Catalonia", who is implied to be Dorothy's father who, according to her during her duel with Quatre, died in battle.
