Dorothea von Biron, self-styled Dorothée de Courlande (Berlin 21 August 1793 — Sagan 19 September 1862), the illegitimate daughter of Dorothee von Medem, wife of Peter von Biron, the last Duke of Courland became the wife of Edmond de Talleyrand-Périgord (1787-1872), nephew of the French statesman Talleyrand. She was successively comtesse Edmond de Périgord (1809), duchesse de Dino (1817, the title under which she is remembered), duchesse de Talleyrand (1838) and duchesse de Sagan, now Żagań, Poland (1845). She bought and rebuilt the Château de Rochecotte, overlooking the Loire valley.
