Dorothea Röschmann

Dorothea Röschmann (born 1967) is a German opera soprano from Flensburg.

[edit] Education and early life
Röschmann enjoyed an education in singing in Hamburg, New York City, Tel Aviv, and under Vera Rosza in London. She has been working as a Lieder and concert singer, both in Germany and abroad, since 1986. She gained international recognition in 1995 with her debut at the Salzburg Festival, where she sang the role of Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt, and staged by Luc Bondy.

She was a member of the ensemble at the Berlin Staatsoper for many years, where she had great successes singing Micaela in Carmen, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Zerlina and Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Pamina in The Magic Flute, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte (this performance is available on DVD), Ännchen in Der Freischütz and many others.
Most recently, she has occupied herself with the role of Contessa d'Almaviva from Mozart's opera Le nozze di Figaro, which she first performed in 2004 at the Ravenna Festival and then in 2006 in London and Salzburg. She has further appearances in this role planned in New York at the Metropolitan Opera and at the Bayerischen Staatsoper in Munich.

- Grammy Award 2002 for the best choral recording with the Wiener Sängerknaben, the Concentus Musicus Wien and the Arnold Schönberg Chor (Bach: St Matthew Passion - Teldec)
