Dornier Viper

Dornier Viper was an West German air-to-air missile project.

Intended to replace the AIM-9 Sidewinder then in Luftwaffe service, Viper was developed by Bodenseewerk, to use an infrared seeker and solid fuel rocket motor, jointly by Germany and Norway. Compared against the AIM-9L, its performance was insufficiently superior and in 1974, Viper was abandoned in favor of it.
