Dornbirn (district)

The Bezirk Dornbirn is an administrative district (Bezirk) in Vorarlberg, Austria. It is a rather young district, which was split from the Feldkirch district only in 1969.

Area of the district is 172.37 km², population is 75,901 (May 15, 2001), and population density 440 persons per km². Administrative center of the district is Dornbirn.

The district is divided into 3 municipalities, two of them are towns, and the third is a market town. Notably, these three are the biggest town in Vorarlberg (Dornbirn), the youngest town in Vorarlberg to receive town privileges (Hohenems, in 1983), and the largest market town in Austria (Lustenau).
