Doris Singleton (born September 28, 1919) is an American actress who is best remembered as Lucy Ricardo's nearsighted neighbor, Caroline Appleby, on I Love Lucy. During her long and distinguished career, Singleton also played the sympathetic neighbor to Annie Fargé's scatterbrained character Angel Smith in the CBS sitcom Angel (1960-1961). She guest starred on several other television shows including The Dick Van Dyke Show, Hogan's Heroes and The Twilight Zone.

Born Doretha Singleton in New York City, Doris began her career in show business as a vocalist in the late 1930s with Art Jarrett's orchestra and as a dancer for three seasons with the New York City Ballet. Her distinctive voice also made her a favorite in the radio industry. It was during a guest appearance on the radio show My Favorite Husband in 1948 that Doris began her life-long friendship with Lucille Ball.

Doris made her television debut in a 1953 episode of Adventures of Superman. Later that year, Doris made an appearance on I Love Lucy playing Lucy Ricardo's friend and often nemesis Caroline Appleby. She would appear on I Love Lucy a total of nine times. As of 2007, Doris is only one of two recurring cast members from the show still living (the other is Shirley Mitchell who played Marion Strong). In 2001, Doris took part in festivities honoring the 50th anniversary of I Love Lucy, and in 1999, she participated in a panel discussion concerning the life and legacy of Lucille Ball at a Loving Lucy convention in California.

Doris's last acting performance was in 1985's 'Deadly Messages'. She presently resides in Los Angeles, California.
