Doreen is a locality north-east of Melbourne, the capital city of Victoria, Australia. Its Local Government Area is the City of Whittlesea and the Shire of Nillumbik, with the boundary running along Yan Yean Road.
Patrick Reid settled the area in 1844, calling it "Hazel Glen". Doreen was eventually named after the heroine of the novel titled "Point Colbert" written by Nathan Bragg.
At present, the area contains two private schools and a primary school, a community hall and a CFA fire station. Residential development is of two kinds - rural residential estates and nurseries to the south, and a new residential estate, Laurimar, in the north with its emphasis on "semi-rural" living, being developed by Delfin, a subsidiary of Lend Lease Corporation.
