Don Reid, born in Canberra Australia, 1953.

Don is recognised as one of the early innovators in online commerce, having established one of the first ecommerce sites in September 1995. During this early time, Don Reid claims that he invented recurring billing for credit card transactions.

For a long time Don has been involved in selling domain names. He became embroiled in a very public controversy surrounding the domain name ReleaseSchapelle.com in reference to a young Australian who is currently serving jail time in Indonesia as a result of controversial drug charges. In a letter to her family and supporters, he wrote on a public chat board:

"Hi Mind you, I'm happy to entertain all offers and maybe negotiate a fair price with any of your readers...they all care so much, lets see someone put their money where their mouth is. If I don't sell the domain soon, I'm pretty sure I will turn it into a porn site..maybe a lesbians in jail theme...what do you think? A winner? I agree" (sic)

Don works from his inner city apartment in Southbank on his "Apache Leads" (i.e. e-mail list) site (www.ApacheLeads.com) which provides mailing lists to buyers (i.e. spammers), as well as a meeting point in the form of a chat board for business opportunity seekers and business builders in the MLM industry.
