The title "The Donkey Serenade" is from a Rudolf Friml/Herbert Stothart song from the 1937 film, "The Firefly", with Allan Jones and Jeannette MacDonald. The clever lyric is by Chet Forrest. "The Donkey Serenade" was a very popular novelty song for decades and was recorded by everybody from Nat King Cole to Mario Lanza, from Artie Shaw to the King's Singers and the Comedy Harmonists. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.130.202.220 (talk) 23:09, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
