Donnchadh MacRath

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Donnchadh MacRath (also known as Duncan MacRae of Inverinate and Donnchadh nam Pìos) was a Scottish poet and the compiler of the Fernaig manuscript [1] which he committed to paper using an English-influenced system of orthography. He was apparently well known in his own time for his education and poetic competence and was descended from several generations of gentry with his father a prominent employee of the Lord of Clan MacKenzie.[2]
