Cody joined the senior hurling panel in 2006, under the management of his father. He won a National Hurling League medal early in the year and made his championship debut against Westmeath An injury caused him to miss the All-Ireland Hurling Final, which Kilkenny also won. Cody has had success with his local club, James Stephens, winning Leinster and All-Ireland Club Championship medals.
