Donna Nook (ship)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Donna Nook was a 40 metre, 307 ton trawler, built in 1916 at Selby. She was pressed into service in 1941 as a minesweeper. She was accidentally rammed and sunk by another minesweeper called the Stella Rigel whilst hurrying to the assistance of a third minesweeper, the Franc Tireur, who was under torpedo attack by S96, a German E-Boat laying mines near Buoy 52, 12 miles north of Harwich, on the night of 24/25th September 1941. Her crew was saved by the Stella Rigel.
