Donna Jackson is the name of a fictional character on the BBC television series Holby City. The character is portrayed by actress Jaye Jacobs. [1] The character first appeared on-screen on 16 March 2004 in episode Baptism of Fire - Series 6, Episode 24 of the programme.[2]
[edit] Overview
Donna has matured into her role as a Nurse as Holby City hospital since her initial arrival. Although still highly outgoing, Donna takes her work more seriously than in her early days - during which she was often seen to work hungover, drink heavily and partake in recreational drug use outside of work. She has had a string of disastrous relationships with male staff members, such as Justin Fuller and Bradley Hume, both of whom simply lost interest in her. She once slept with her close friend, midwife Mickie Hendrie, but was quick to make it clear that she was not interested in pursuing a lesbian relationship.
More recently, Donna won £10,000 on a scratch card, and was planning on keeping the winnings to herself despite being part of a syndicate including Dean West and Maddy Young. However, she quickly wasted much of what she had won, and lost the rest when a disturbed patient threw her money from a hospital window to be collected and claimed on behalf of a disabled child. She subsequently missed the flight she had been planning on taking to Australia, and was forced to hastily withdraw her resignation.
Most recently, Donna has taken a shine to General Surgeon Michael Spence, and does not seem put off by fellow nurse Maria Kendall's constant reminders that he is married with children.
