Donn Cothaid mac Cathail

Donn Cothaid mac Cathail(d.773)[1] was a King of Connacht from the Ui Fiachrach Muaidhe branch of the Connachta. He was the great-grandson of DĂșnchad Muirisci mac Tipraite(d.683).[2] He was the last member of this branch to hold the throne of Connacht and ruled from 768-773.
Donn Cothaid known son was Cathmug mac Duinn Cothaid(d.787), a king of the Ui Fiachrach. His grandson Dubhda was ancestor of the O'Dowds who became the ruling clan of the northern Ui Fiachrach.
