Donghae is a city in Gangwon Province, South Korea. There are two major ports: Donghae Harbor and Mukho Harbor. The city is located on the Yeongdong Line railroad and the Donghae Expressway. Numerous caverns are found in the city, as in neighboring Samcheok. Donghae University is located here.

Donghae City is located in mideastern area of Korean peninsula and meets the sea to the east. It borders Jeongseon county to the west and Gangneung city to the north. It is the beginning point of Donghae Expressway and the No.37 national way passes through the city.

The city is mostly mountainous and has natural resources such as Mureung Valley and beautiful beaches. As Taebaek Mountains lie along the eastern coast, the river cannot cross the high mountains.[1] But, drops can run just moment in rainy seaons.

Donghae area and its neighborhood got a position of free industry zone. From this, Gangwon province and Donghae city has overtaken team for investment. [4]

Gangwon province and its subcities have tried to appeal attracting lots of firms. Its effect is not that impressive, yet.

[edit] Cruise Ferry

A cruise ferry line connecting Russia, South Korea and Japan is scheduled to open in the summer of 2008. The points of each nation to be linked together are Donghae, Sakaiminato, Tottori and Vladivostok.[5]
