Doncaster Rural District was a Rural District in the West Riding of Yorkshire, England from 1894 to 1974. It was formed

under the Local Government Act 1894 from the Rural Sanitary Authorities surrounding the municipal borough (later

county borough) of Doncaster.

The district was merged with the urban districts of Adwick le Street Bentley with Arksey, Conisborough, Mexborough and

Tickhill, the rural district of Thorne and the county borough of Doncaster into the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster in

1974 as a result of the Local Government Act 1972.

The district council were granted armorial bearings on 30th October 1947.

At the time of its dissolution it consisted of the following 35 civil parishes.
