Donald Reid Cabral

Donald Reid Cabral (1923-2006) is a former leader of the Dominican Republic. He chaired the "triumvirate" from December 29, 1963.[1]

Donald Reid was the son of a Scottish immigrant who ran an auto dealership. He was placed on the triumvirate by the military, but ultimately came to dominate it and gain some measure of power.[2] In 1965 a pro-Juan Bosch uprising occurred, which would ultimately lead to his overthrow. Although the US tried to end it in Operation Power Pack.[3] By 1988 he acted as the nation's foreign minister.[4]
