He received a B.A. in English from Ohio State University and an M.F.A. in dramatic arts from Iowa State University.
[edit] Career
Nigro has written more than than 200 plays,[3] 28 of which have played off Broadway.[4] One of these, The Manor, was adapted into the film Ravenscroft. His plays also include The Transylvanian Clockworks, Seascape With Sharks and Dancer, and My Sweetheart's the Man in the Moon (about Evelyn Nesbit and Stanford White) andGenesis. Of Genesis, Hawaii reviewer Ron Youngblood wrote, ...an Eve who is not only the first mother, but also the first philosopher-poet. The piece goes by in a flash that leaves the audience with a bittersweet love for the resolute Eve, a lonely God and a world that is both wonder and horror.
He is perhaps best know for his cult work The Curate Shakespeare As You Like It,[5] sometimes subtitled The record of one company's attempt to perform the play by William Shakespeare.[6]
