IMDb profile

Don't Torture a Duckling, ( Italian: Non si sevizia un paperino) is a Giallo film directed by Lucio Fulci in 1972.

The film is important to Fulci's filmography because it is one of the first in which he began using violent gore effects. Something which he would continue to do in his later films such as Zombie, The Beyond and City of the Living Dead. It's also Fulci's personal favorite, of all the films he directed.

The soundtrack was composed by Riz Ortolani and features vocals by Ornella Vanoni.

[edit] Plot

A child killer is strangling young boys in a small Italian village and it's up to a visiting reporter from Rome, named Andrea (Tomas Milian) and a local girl named Patrizia (Barbara Bouchet) to find the killer before he/she kills again. With a regional state police commissioner assisting the village police chief with the investigation, a number of locals are assumed to be the killer. Among them include Maciara (Florinda Bolkan), a local Gypsy "witch"; Francesco (Georges Wilson), an eccentric hermit; Giuseppe (Vito Passer), a local simpleton and Peeping Tom; Don Alberto Avallone (Marc Porel), a young priest; as well as his dour and mysterious mother (Irene Papas).
