"Don't Break My Heart" is a single by American singer La Toya Jackson, which features a rap and background vocals by Tom Beser. After Jackson divorced her abusive husband and manager Jack Gordon, she wished to take time out of the public eye to meditate on her past. [1] Therefore, she withdrew from the project shortly after it was recorded. However, Beser released it anyway and promoted it throughout Germany using an impersonator of Jackson to lip-sync the performances.
Beser not only promoted the single with a La Toya Jackson impersonator, but also went on German television and announced that he had sexual relations with Jackson, an accusation for which no evidence has been found. To this day, it is still not clear whether or not the single was even fully authorized by Jackson herself.
The single, which features several remixes and a special German message from Jackson, failed to chart in Germany or anywhere else. This was Jackson's last single before her return to U.S. charts with the 2004 dance hit "Just Wanna Dance".
