[edit] Remixes, cover versions, etc.

Hi. Per WP:SONGS, please do not create separate articles for song remixes, re-issues or cover versions - as articles are about the songs, all info should be placed into the same article (I can give you some good examples if you want). Also please be careful about creating duplicate articles, as you did with these: Denis Remix (song) and Denis" (remix) (song). Thanks. - eo 20:18, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Changes to Blondie

Hi,

Why are we not allowed to post official remixes that charted seperately from the original versions?

Thanks

Dominic.

You can certainly put the remixes in the discography (they're there now, actually - no need to wikilink them a second time). You just don't need to create an entirely new article for each them. You can add the info to the original song article and put an additional cover image in the infobox and insert an additional chronology (for an example see Oh L'amour). Let me know if you need further assistance... you dont need to email me, just place a comment on my Talk Page. - eo 20:31, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

thanks for the info and example. I'm new to all this wiki-ing - I wanted to put a new page because, as a frequent visitor to wiki and it's various music discographies, I find it incredibly annoying when you're clicking through the singles chronology only to find the single has no link and you have to go all the way back to the beginning. Continuity is the thing that Wiki really lacks and thats why I wanted the seperate link pages ...

Also, the singles were listed as having seperate single worthy status by both the British Hit Singles and Albums book, and the Great Rock Discography ... by their standards, due to the remixes differing production values, times, cover art and chart facts, they are different singles released in significantly different form.

Also sorry for emailing you - like I say, I'm new to all this....

Thanks for your help! :-)

Dominic.

No problem. Once you have all of the new remix information inserted into the articles, you can also add to Template:Blondie - put the remixes in the chronology there. As that template appears on all Blondie pages, that is another good way to flow from single to single.... as a change you make to the Template will automatically update in all articles that contain that Template. Also.... don't forget to sign any comments you make on Talk Pages with your signature, by typing four tildes: ~~~~ - eo 20:46, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks again for your help. Got a feeling I'm going to be asking you a lot of questions lol. Thanks Dommers50000 20:48, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

Anytime! - eo 20:52, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 14:40, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
