Dominique Fernandez
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dominique Fernandez (born in Neuilly-sur-Seine on August 25, 1929) is an openly gay[1] French novelist and member of the Académie française. He won the Prix Goncourt in 1982.
He is the son of Ramon Fernandez, a literary critic whose reputation was tarnished when he served on the executive committee of the Parti Populaire Français, collaborating with France's Nazi occupiers. His son's inaugural speech in the Academy was a defense of his father. As the hilt of the ceremonial sword of his Academy uniform, Fernandez chose a representation of Ganymede.
In 1961 he married Diane Jacquin de Margerie; they had two children together before their divorce in 1971.
