The Dominion of Fiji was declared on the 10 October 1970. The last Governor of Fiji became the first Governor-General of Fiji. The first Prime Minister of the Dominion of Fiji was Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara. The Dominion of Fiji ended in October 1987 when Ratu Sir Penaia Ganilau resigned as Governor-General. There were three Governors-General of Fiji:

  1. Sir Robert Sidney Foster
  2. Ratu Sir George Cakobau
  3. Ratu Sir Penaia Ganilau

The Dominion of Fiji was replaced by the Republic of Fiji.
