General elections were held in Dominica on May 5, 2005. Voter turnout was 59.09%. The Dominica Labour Party won 12 seats, the United Workers' Party 8, and an independent took 1 seat. The DLP formed a government with little change from the previous one. It was the first election since 1975 that the Dominica Freedom Party did not won a single seat. The DLP, with which it had been a coalition partner, gave the DFP at least one seat in the Senate.
