The Department of Management Studies (DoMS) was started in 1978 with an ME programme in Management. The MBA programme was started in the year 1982, which was later funded by Ministry of Human Resource Development, (only funded MBA programme among 17 NITs) Government of India.

The MBA programme of Department of Management Studies imparts in-depth knowledge in all the cross-functional areas that go towards making a complete manager. The functional expertise of the faculty acts as a catalyst for this process.

The department is ranked among the top 20 B-schools for placements & infrastructure (BT survey 1998,2000) and one of the top 5 B-schools in South India.

NIT, Trichy is located about 22 km from Tiruchurapalli Jn / Central Bustand on the Trichy-Thanjavur Highway. The simplest and most economical way to reach NITT is by bus. Any city Bus at the Tiruchirapalli Jn will take you to the central bus stand. Board Thanjavur bound route bus. The journey time from Trichy will be around 45 minutes.

  • The programme is spread over two years and helps the students to learn the skills necessary for the potential manager through a comprehensive study approach.
  • In order to live up to the challenging requirements, the curriculum allows students to specialize by taking elective courses.
  • Due to the increasing importance of computers in today's business, a concerted effort is made throughout the course to incorporate computer orientation in every functional area.
  • The programme believes that one develops into a manager by exposing oneself to the executive decision making process under the guidance of practicing executives. In line with this belief, guest lectures by practicing experts have become an integral feature.
  • A high profile board of studies periodically reviews and updates the syllabi based on the changing needs of the business environment and bring it for the approval of academic council.
  • Impetus is being built into the programme to make it highly interactive with sister disciplines in the college and collaborative with BHEL, Tiruchirapalli and other leading industries.
