[edit] Welcome to Wikipedia!

Hello Dolive21, welcome to Wikipedia!

I noticed nobody had said hi yet... Hi!

If you feel a change is needed, feel free to make it yourself! Wikipedia is a wiki, so anyone (yourself included) can edit any article by following the Edit this page link. Wikipedia convention is to be bold and not be afraid of making mistakes. If you're not sure how editing works, have a look at How to edit a page, or try out the Sandbox to test your editing skills.

You might like some of these links and tips:

If, for some reason, you are unable to fix a problem yourself, feel free to ask someone else to do it. Wikipedia has a vibrant community of contributors who have a wide range of skills and specialties, and many of them would be glad to help. As well as the wiki community pages there are IRC Channels, where you are more than welcome to ask for assistance.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page. Thanks and happy editing, Alf melmac 13:26, 10 November 2005 (UTC).

[edit] Gay

May I ask you why you left that message at my talk page? I have never interacted with you before and I've never called someone gay in the pejorative way, as I hate it when people do that. And by the way, I am a guy with hair 161/2 inches long. Redwolf24 (talk) 23:31, 10 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] SockPuppets

I don't know what you are worried about - I just asked the admins counting the votes to be more careful. If you're not a sock then what does it matter what I said. Trödel|talk 20:01, 30 November 2005 (UTC)
I can't confirm whether you are a sockpuppet or not - I can assume, in good faith, that you are not a sock. Unfortunately, if it was up to me to count the votes I probably wouldn't count yours: you have less than 50 edits on wikipedia and seem to be overly concerned with the sockpuppet label for someone who has only been on the wiki for a month. However, as a fellow editor I welcome you and hope you will continue to contribute to wikipedia. Trödel|talk 21:55, 30 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Cateogries

Categories are fairly easy, but I admit I have duffed up doing one myself, so I'm happy to help. What category would you like to set up? Please remember to sign you posts on talk pages with four tildes. Alf melmac 15:17, 1 December 2005 (UTC)

Hmm, I'd use Category:Poisonous plants then, as it's pretty well populated already, unless there are enough plants dangerous in other ways to merit a different category. If you do want to set it up Category:Dangerous plants <- click that and add Category:Plants to the bottom and that's it set up. You can add a description of the category at the top, if you wish. Have a look at how the poisonous plants one looks for an idea. Alf melmac 12:58, 2 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Sock puppets and linkspam

You accuse me of being a sock puppet. It seems clear that you don't understand what the term means. According to Wikipedia's own definition, it is someone who creates an additional account in order to pretend to be someone else. I haven't even created a first account, never mind a second one, and if, as you must be implying, I am not actually Colin Farrell, why would you be accusing me of linkspamming to my website?!

Of course I was not linkspamming - there is in any case already a legitimate link from that page to my site, which, in accordance with Wikipedia rules, was not put there by me. I just thought it relevant to explain who I was in the context of the subject of that page.

[edit] Tideswell is a Village

"The next nearet biggest village seems a bit clumsy, so i am going to revert it to town. I know there is soem local controversy about this, but it is much bigger than litton. please feel free to message me if you have an idea for a good compromise. Dolive21 10:43, 6 March 2006 (UTC)"

Ok, maybe it shoud read: Tideswell the next nearest larger village.

Trust me, I have lived in Litton all my life and Tideswell certainly isn't a town, if it is why did it win best kept village award in 1999??? Happylass HL114816032006

[edit] Thanks

Hey just to let you know I have changed the page (if it doesn't flow properly please feel free to edit it!!). If you go onto the Litton Village website then B & B's, I live at Beacon House! Nice speaking to you. Happylass 14:49, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Don't forget to sign  :)

If you can, please try to remember to sign your posts. It's done by using 4 tildes ~~~~. It makes it easier to see who is reporting what. Thahnks. Wikibofh(talk) 15:26, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] DaGizza's RfA

Thanks!
Thanks!

Hi Dolive21, thank you for supporting me in my RfA which passed with a tally of (93/1/2). If you need any help or wish discuss something with me, you are always welcome to talk to me. GizzaChat © 11:37, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Very Funny

I got that from this page Anonymous_anonymous_Have a Nice Day 10:55, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] User boxes

Hi! I noticed you already have some user boxes on your page. Those are templates, which place a message on your page. The userboxers on my page are SUBSTed templates, which added all the markup from the template onto my page. (It took many edits to organize the user boxes and categories!) An example of this is this edit, made by Cydebot. It's a good idea to subst userboxes because you never know when they might be deleted, and your box is gone.

When you tried to add to your page, you might have only added the category link. You need to add the template markup (<div>blah blah blah</div> etc) and the category, if there is one ([[Category:I love the Amazing Race]] etc). Hope this helped; if you have any more questions please do ask! -- getcrunkjuicecontribs 23:41, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The Whiteroom

Added url http://www.theharbouragency.com/artistpage.asp?ID=497. Thanks for letting me know I should add a url to a copyvio. ww2censor 16:10, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Conserning The Whiteroom

The Harbour Agency arnt actualy the owners of the copyright. Bary Brauer is the one who compiled the Biography. Also the information was copied from a public website.

If there agent says it is ok, we can assume that it is ok. It is just it is best to check. No one ever stops people using stuff from their bio to write wikipedia pages.Dolive21 21:32, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Vandaling

dude...vandaling? it's good to know we can trust the self-proclaimed editors to do nothing more than fail at their job - learn to spell mate

I am going to delete the above unsigned comment from some one I dealt with for vandalism soon, unless anyone feels it is a serious complaint, which warrants being retained as a serious comment baout my activities Dolive21 12:28, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Chris is cool

It is not currently protected. I think it should probaly not be described as such until it is. having said that, iI do ot see any point in reverting it. You could ask User:dvib to protect it, he is fairly responsive, and deleted it originally.Dolive21 15:20, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

Working on it. Take a deep breath and give me a few minutes/hours... --Cat out 15:27, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Damhead Creek

Hi, I've listed an article you created, Damhead Creek, on Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2006 June 16/Articles - it looks like a text dump from [1], which states on its legal page "You are not permitted and agree not to copy, broadcast, download, store (in any medium), transmit, show or play in public, adapt or change in any way the content of this or any part of ScottishPower's web site for any purpose whatsoever other than your own personal and domestic, non-commercial, use, without the prior written approval of ScottishPower. Any copy of this web site or portion thereof must include these terms and conditions", which seems to pretty clearly forbid the page in its current form. After it is deleted, perhaps you would consider rewriting it using the website as a source instead? Ziggurat 01:31, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply. Note that there are some strict protocols for getting permission about this; the e-mail has to be sent to 'permissions at wikimedia dot org' and the reply has to come from the website in question, so I'd suggest checking out Wikipedia:Boilerplate request for permission and Wikipedia:Confirmation of permission (it's a bit of a complicated process :) Ziggurat 21:26, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
I have deleted the article for now, it can be undeleted if/when you get the permission. Conscious 09:12, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
Probaly the best thing to do. The have not answered, they probaly think it is a joke or somethingDolive21 09:23, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] DVD+R/W's RfA

Thank you for your support in my RfA, which ended with the result of (74/0/0). If there is anything I can help with feel free to ask. Also, if there is anything I am doing wrong, please point that out as well. I look forward to working with you in the future.

Highest regards, DVD+ R/W 02:24, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you for your support

Dear Dolive21,
Thank you very much for your support on my recent RfA. I am pleased to announce that it passed with a tally of 72/11/1, and I am now an administrator. I'll be taking things slowly at first and getting used to the tools, but please let me know if there are any admin jobs I can do to help you, now or in the future. —Cuiviénen 02:24, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] E-mail

Please be aware that the Email me feature may not always be responded to quickly, as it uses a webmail account that is not always checked regularly. If you need to contact me urgently, please us my talkpage, as that is the fastest way to contact me.

[edit] Your reverts @ Portugal

Please, read the content you revert before you do it. You recently removed useful and valid content from Portugal under the summary of "rv vandalism". Changes by IP addresses are as important as those from registered users. Afonso Silva 12:08, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

No problem, it was just strange, as the content is perfectly valid (although the article is already too large). Other user did just the same, it happens. Cheers! Afonso Silva 17:47, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] European Parliamentary Elections Act 1978

It should be the European Assembly Elections Act. Kurando | ^_^ 15:00, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

I checked specifically. They both exist. If you Google it you will find references in enacted law to amending Schedule 1 to the European Parliamentary Elections Act 1978. Dolive21 15:05, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

They are the same act 1978 c. 10, however the European Parliamentary Elections Act 2002 does refer to it as the Parliamentary Elections Act rather than Assembly Elections Act. I am not sure if the formal short title is changed. I will note it on the list. Kurando | ^_^ 15:16, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
Are you sure? It seems a bit odd that the government would make a mistake like that. I guess the act is flawed.Dolive21 17:24, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My RfA

Hello Dolive21. I wanted to thank you with flowers (well, flower) for taking the time to participate in my RfA, which was successful. I'm very grateful for your support and kind words. I assure you I'll continue to serve the project to the best of my ability and strive to use the tools wisely. Please do let me know if I can be of assistance and especially if you spot me making an error in future. Many thanks once again. Yours, Rockpocket 06:23, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RFA Thanks

Thanks!
Thanks for your input on my (nearly recent) Request for adminship, which regretfully achived no consensus, with votes of 68/28/2. I am grateful for the input received, both positive and in opposition, and I'd like to thank you for your participation.

[edit] Oldbury-on-Severn

Why did you revert my edits to Oldbury-on-Severn as vandalism? That is the very last thing they were. --Cheesy Mike 17:09, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Sorry. I messed up and deleted your edit by mistake along with a vandals edit. I have now removed the vandalism by hand. Sorry again.Dolive21 21:03, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Thanks! --Cheesy Mike 21:52, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Chris Zook

Hi

I have created a stub about Chris Zook. But occasionally I created a wrong stub -- Chris zook. The last name should start with a capital letter. Please, delete the wrong stub.

Lamro

Hi, I'm really confused over uploading an image. Do you think you could help? Bridgetp123 09:46, 12 July 2007 (UTC) = Bridgetp123

The image I just uploaded came from the website of where i work. I have the copyright permission, so why can't I upload?

You need to give it a tag, describing its copyright status. This page tells you how to do that.

I want to put it on the home page for Bridget Prentice.

[edit] Re: Template

What template did you use to warn about Chat room. Dolive21 09:05, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

I didn't use a template; I use my own wording in warning messages. You are free to copy it if you wish – Gurch 16:27, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
Didn't think I recognized it. Thanks.

[edit] Cheraw, South Carolina

Hi, actually User:Ztm423 had nothing to do with that edit. An IP removed it and another IP re-added it. Personally I would remove it as it adds little to the page if there isn't an article on it. Best wishes, MSGJ (talk) 15:40, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Zachery Michael is a well esablished human. He has a net worth of 60,000,000 USD. He is only 18 years old. He keeps his life very private. So of course you will not find him on google. keep him on wikipedia- he deserves the credit. He also knows: Cyndi Lauper, David Thornton, Oprah Winfrey, Barack Obama, John Edwards, Hillary Clinton, Paula Deen and other stars. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.63.244.53 (talk) 22:37, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
