Template:DoL suburb image

[edit] Purpose
This template provides a quick and and easy method of directly linking to images of New South Wales towns, suburbs and localities and of providing a standardised format for the reference. The images are provided by the New South Wales Department of Lands (DoL) and show the officially designated borders of the chosen locality.
In early 2008 the DoL changed urls for the imagery and broke links in several articles where the images were referenced. In the event that happens again, this template will require only the updating of the url here, without requiring changes to multiple articles.
[edit] Usage
{{DoL suburb image |name = |codename = |accessdate = }}
[edit] Required parameters
- name = This is required to form the citation title and should be the name of the locality chosen with appropriate capitalisation. The name may include spaces. eg Raymond Terrace
- codename = This is required to form the url. If the locality name is a single word codename may either be identical to the "name" field or be "same". If the locality name includes spaces "same" can not be used and spaces must be replaced by "%20". eg Raymond%20Terrace. This field is not case sensitive. ie Raymond%20Terrace and raymond%20terrace will produce the same result.
- accessdate = Date accessed in ISO 8601 YYYY-MM-DD format, for example "accessdate = 2008-06-10". Must not be wikilinked.
[edit] Examples
[edit] Single word name
{{DoL suburb image |name = Toronto |codename = Toronto |accessdate = 2008-05-14}} and
{{DoL suburb image |name = Toronto |codename = same |accessdate = 2008-05-14}} will both produce:
Toronto. Department of Lands - Spatial Information eXchange. New South Wales Department of Lands. Retrieved on 2008-05-14.
[edit] Multiple word name
{{DoL suburb image |name = Raymond Terrace |codename = Raymond%20Terrace |accessdate = 2008-05-14}} will produce:
Raymond Terrace. Department of Lands - Spatial Information eXchange. New South Wales Department of Lands. Retrieved on 2008-05-14.
[edit] Spaces
Spaces in the citation may be eliminated where not required. For example, the above examples may be written as:
{{DoL suburb image|name=Toronto|codename=Toronto|accessdate=2008-05-14}}
{{DoL suburb image|name=Toronto|codename=same|accessdate=2008-05-14}}
{{DoL suburb image|name=Raymond Terrace|codename=Raymond%20Terrace|accessdate=2008-05-14}}
