Talk:Dolpo
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Nepal page, which links here, says this group practices polyandry, not polygamy. Is the information wrong here, or there, or do they practice both? Does anyone know?
This entry is full of almost total opinion. Poorer than the poorest village in Africa? I've been to Dho-Tarap, and it's not.
I agree. This article is poorly written and incredibly subjective. The Dolpo do, in fact, practice polyandry. The practice appears among several groups throughout Nepal and Tibet.
We can improve this. The quotes need referencing. Many houses in Dolpo have solar panels now. Dho Tarap, Charka and Saldang. I have been to the Crystal Mountain School (Dho) and the one at Saldang on two trekking trips. It certainly isn't the poorest place around. Perhaps some quotes from Steve Razzetti, Trekking in Nepal could be appropriate references? StuDreamer 03:38, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
I am from Dolpo and I left Dolpo in 1983 to India, I have a real experience about Dolpo at that time. I can tell you more about Dolpo's Hitory. I am specialist in History.
I won't eccept Dolpo is the poorer than the poorest village of Africa. You should know the Dolpo is fine without any Aids from other country for many years. Still they seeks aids only for the modern education.
Dolpo called themselfs "Dhol-wa" so the word "Dolpopa" is only used by tibetan.
According the Tibetan History you will the know the Dolpo is not a very poor even at the time of Yarlung reigne.
Doctors, Practionar, women missionarry, scholar and so many famous and learned people from Dolpo are eccept by the Tibetan History. If you learne more about Dolpo then you will agree the Dolpo is a extra ordinary amongs the trans Himalayan region.
will discuss more later
