Dolium

A dolium (plural: dolia) was an ancient Roman large earthenware jug embedded in the counters of thermopolia (bars) and popinae (food shops) to store grain, dried fruits, and liquids, and may have a stone cover. Some wooden dolia have now been excavated in Pompeii.
