Dolichyl-phosphate-mannose-glycolipid alpha-mannosyltransferase

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In enzymology, a dolichyl-phosphate-mannose-glycolipid alpha-mannosyltransferase (EC 2.4.1.130) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction in which an alpha-D-mannosyl residue is transferred from a dolichyl-phosphate D-mannose molecule into a membrane lipid-linked oligosaccharide.

This enzyme belongs to the family of glycosyltransferases, specifically the hexosyltransferases. The systematic name of this enzyme class is dolichyl-phosphate-D-mannose:glycolipid alpha-D-mannosyltransferase. Other names in common use include dolichol phosphomannose-oligosaccharide-lipid mannosyltransferase, and oligomannosylsynthase. This enzyme participates in n-glycan biosynthesis and glycan structures - biosynthesis 1.
