[edit] Byzantine hypatoi are not Roman consuls
Hello Dojarca! I saw that you added a large list of Byzantine hypatoi to the List of Roman Consuls. As explained on the article's talk page, this is wrong: after Justinian II, the Greek title hypatos became merely one among many honorary court titles, and had no longer any connection with the Roman consuls, i.e. the two annually selected magistrates. The same applies to its derivatives, apo hypatos, disypatos, anthypatos. Their origin may have been remembered in some scholarly works, but they had nothing in common, except the name, with the original titles. Regards, Cplakidas (talk) 22:23, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
