Dofar Liberation Front was a communist front which was established to create a separatist state in the southern province of Oman next to Yemen frontiers. The front was established by communist youth in Salalah in 1965 and fought a 10 year battle with the sultanate army supported by souther Yemen at the time. The sultanate army supported by Iran and Britain have managed to remove the front from power and push its forces towards the border of Yemen and the mountains in 1976.
