[edit] WikiProject AFL

Ey Dave, if you love your Dockers, I suggest you check out the following pages: Fremantle Dockers players and WikiProject AFL. If you're interested add your name to the list of participants, and I'll see ya there. Cheers, docker_dave 8:33, 23 January 2006 (WST)

[edit] Footy articles

Good work mate, I've done a bit of work on Ben Allan, so you might wanna check that out. One thing is, when you use Rleague for stats, prior to 1993 they don't have any stats, and Allan actually debuted in 1990. So just a word of warning there. Cheers mate, and keep it up. Rogerthat 08:23, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

Also, have you given the blokes over at Dockerland a word? they would be most likely to help you with your quest to document players. Do all you can, but make sure lots of others know about this project. Cheers Rogerthat 10:53, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
Hi mate, just a couple of pointers for you:
When you list the teams that players have played for, always have them in chronlogocial order. Eg, Carlton (1990-1993) would go before Fremantle (1994-1995), not the other way around. For coaching, see Tim Watson and Kevin Sheedy for examples of how to list coaching records in the AFL (and classify them under Category:Australian Rules coaches.////With Rleague, they are named as, for example, "S/Shaun_McManus.html", not "M/Shaun_McManus.html".
Cheers mate, keep recruiting more members to help us out with these articles, and keep up the good work, Rogerthat 07:34, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] User:docker_dave

Hi mate, just letting you know something useful: on discussion pages and shyt, sign your name by typing four of these things: "~~~~". Then it signs your name and the time automatically. You can even make it look green red and purple if you want (ask me how). Cheers, Rogerthat Talk 10:37, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Dockers players

Hi mate, noticed your work on dockers players has stopped. Just wondering if you'd told any other Dockers fans out there to continue the great work you were doing. Cheers, Rogerthat Talk 10:10, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject NBL

Hey Docker dave

I am wondering if you would like to join WikiProject NBL. I believe that this is something that you might be able to help me with, by creating user boxes and player boxes for it or even adding articles about Players

Cheers

[edit] AFL season article naming convention

As a participant of WikiProject AFL I thought you might be interested in this. I have started a vote to get a consensus on the naming convention for AFL season articles. [edit] A-League 2006-07 Newsletter I

Introduction
The first ever Wikiproject A-League newsletter is here! The 2006-07 A-League season will bring the usual enjoyment and fanaticism that only football/soccer can create. This new season also means a lot of (currently-open) tasks that require completion throughout the course of the next 21 weeks.
Position Ladder
A Position Ladder will be placed on each team page, which will provide an up-to-date visualization of the current A-League standings. However, problems may occur when Position Ladders aren't updated with the new statistics that don't involve matches of the team whose page the Position Ladder resides on. To remedy this, a base Position Ladder will be created, which will be located at {{2006-07 A-League Position Ladder}} (link). Please update this as soon as possible after the match has ended, as this will keep the Wikipedia community informed.

A few notes regarding the base Position Ladder:-

  • Please do not substitute the Position Ladder template on the team pages, as it won’t get automatically updated if you do.
  • Please only update the Position Ladder at the end of a match, and if there is any large dispute about the result, do not add it, but instead wait for an official report by the A-League confirming the result.
  • When updating, make sure to adjust all of the below fields:-
    • The played field – add one (eg. 13→14 etc.)
    • Either the win, loss or draw field, depending on the result for that team.
    • The points field – either add 3 points (win), 1 point (draw) or leave the same (loss)
    • The for and the against section
    • Make sure you repeat this process for both teams – not just the team you follow!
Summary Tables
Each team page will have a Summary Table added to it, which will provide an at-a-glance look at the results of the team throughout the season. We ask that, at every chance you get, you fill in the results of these Summary Tables – it only takes a few seconds, but it will help keep the uninformed "in the loop" – it is an encyclopedia we’re writing, after all.

As with the Position Ladders, a few notes about the Summary Tables:-

  • Please place the winner in bold text (using '''winning team''').
  • With the crowd figures, please only place a comma if the attendance is over 10,000 people (eg. use 8648 instead of 8,468 and 11,482 instead of 11482).

[edit] A-League Newsletter II, 2006

WikiProject A-League Newsletter
Issue II – September 2006
Current Player project status
10% complete
A-League News

Project News
  • The Player project has been moved, overhauled and refined. It now is not limited to the 2005-06 player list. However, only 10% of articles are considered "complete", and hopefully we can get this figure to approach 100% by the end of the season.
  • Major changes to the layout of the 2006-07 A-League season page have taken place recently, and an infobox created. A table for attendances, as well as top scorer etc. are now in place. All users are encouraged to update the scores for completed matches as they come in.
  • Recently, Perth Glory F.C. was moved to Perth Glory FC after no objections were raised at the Wikiproject talk page. All links to the old page (including various templates) were changed.
  • The project requires pictures of games and stadiums to help improve articles. Any pictures are much appreciated.
  • The A-League Portal has been set up. Feel free to update the scores, and make sure you check out the selected article and picture each fortnight.
  • The football (soccer) barnstar has recently became the official award of the Wikiproject. Feel free to hand it out to anyone you see making excellent contributions to all things A-League related.

[edit] Expansion of WP:A-League

Hi Docker dave,

Just thought I'd let you know there is currently a proposal to expand WikiProject A-League to include all areas of football/soccer in Australia, including the NSL, A-League, Socceroos, state leagues and more. A more formal proposal page can be found here. Please indicate whether you support the idea or not at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject A-League, and also add your 2c about what the new project should be called. Cheers! – AlbinoMonkey (Talk) 04:13, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Commendations on the South Fremantle article

Hey, just thought I'd leave you a message to say well done on your article South Fremantle Football Club. I myself have been working on the East Perth Article for quite some time and although I may not support your team, it's good to see someone helping to give WAFL clubs the articles they deserve. Keep up the good work! Nic the Man 09:51, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

I agree that you've done really well, but we have to very careful about what we add. The latest section on supporters could be considered either not a neutral POV or maybe Original research, but definitely lacking reliable sources. Try to find a newspaper article, maybe get Les Everitt to write one up in the Freo Herald or something, or it will have to be removed. Carn the doggies! The-Pope 02:17, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Duplicate images uploaded

Thanks for uploading Image:Kit body perth glory home.png. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Kit body orange reebok spikes.PNG. The copy called Image:Kit body orange reebok spikes.PNG has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 14:00, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
