[edit] AFL season article naming convention

As a participant of WikiProject AFL I thought you might be interested in this. I have started a vote to get a consensus on the naming convention for AFL season articles. [edit] Please be careful with the "hawthorn" link

Hi!

I adopted the "Hawthorn" page and mid-November. No, not Hawthorn Football Club, but rather the disambiguation page. I spent a good long time finding all the linkk to the disambiguation page and correcting them. In the process, I learned altogether too much about various plant-eating butterflies, villages in England, and the AFL. It was actually quite fun. I still check back from time to time to find out if there are new incorrect links.

When you link to "Hawthorn," the people who use your page will also learn about the plant and about the villages in england, which is probably not what you want. Therefore, please link to "Hawthorn Football Club|Hawthorn" instead.

I did ask the butterfly guy to be more careful, and he has in fact done so, although he was completely against my idea of a match between the rugby players and the butterflies.

Thanks!

I notice that you use "Hawthorn Hawks|Hawthorn" a lot also. "Hawthorn Hawks" is a redirect: it's better to link to the base page rather than via a redirect, but I'm not trying to babysit the "Hawthorn Hawks" redirect, just the "Hawthorn" disambiguation page. If you get really inspired, you might think about fixing up all the redirects. It's boring work. First, go to "Hawthorn Hawks." you will be redirected to "Hawthorn Football Club." Then, click on the "Hawthorn Hawks" in the "redirected from" line at the top of the page. Then, click on "what links here" (in the left-hand border column" to see all the pages that are (improperly) using "Hawthorn Hawks." Go to each page and edit the links. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Arch dude (talkcontribs) 01:03, 14 December 2006 (UTC).
