[edit] Tony Perkins and The Psychotics aka The Psychotics
The Band Tony Perkins and The Psychotics was created in 1978 by Carl Cephas, Judy Shipman, and Peter Muise. The band was originally going to be an all toy/electric gizmo band performing songs in a punk/funk teen-angst style. Carl and Peter were the front men. Carl wrote many of the lyrics and songs earlier on. Gilbert Belton soon joined as drummer, along with John Gibson (bass player) of the Dancing Flowerpots, and David Byers of 'The Enzymes','Chucky Sluggo','The Bad Brains' (guitar). The band changed members many times, Charles Steck (Bass), Lloyd Stuart Casson (guitar), and many others. Judy Shipman helped write a few songs but never performed live. The band's only album was an LP produced by HR of 'The Bad Brains' Olive Tree Records entitled " Mass Insanity Destroying Civilizations". It made the Village Voice Magazines Top 20 list. They performed in the Washington,D.C. area until the late 80's. The band opened up for 'The Cramps' in 1980 along with 'The Teen Idles'. Their final shows were at the Psychedelly and the Wax Museum. David Beyers passed away in 2002.
